The following are some unsolicited comments from our clients.
To whom it may concern,
In early 2006 four moms with no experience in building anything but Lego towers, decided to raise $250,000 to build a new playground in town. Our first and most important objective was to find the right person to help guide us through this monumental project. After interviewing five companies, we decided on Bill Eckhardt of Childscapes without a moment of hesitation. We never regretted that early decision.
We chose Bill for a number of reasons. His design provided the most amount of play space and equipment on our limited budget. His proposal was prompt and complete with all the elements we had noted as priorities. We were also impressed with Bill's professionalism and his heart felt confidence regarding the Burke line of products.
As the project got underway, Bill was extremely flexible in making changes to the design and keeping us posted on the status of the work. I always new he was only a cell phone call away and that I would get a return call as soon as possible. The project was completed by our deadline and we had a great opening day!
This project had the potential to be a major nightmare but thanks in large part to Bill's work, enthusiasm and sense of humor, this was never the case. I would do another project with Bill in a heartbeat.

We just completed 28 playscapes using Childscapes and BCI Burke
equipment. Childscapes was a great company to work with. The staff
and installers are CPSI certified as am I. The City of Danbury
hired a consultant originally who recommended that we use Burke
Equipment. They are one of the original play equipment companies in
business for over eighty years. I found that their engineering
department and customer service were outstanding. Childscapes
supplied CAD drawings and complete layouts to fit each site. I
would not use a consultant again. We did almost one million dollars
with Childscapes including also two Water Spray Parks. Their
equipment is also on the State Bid List. We also constructed the
first 100% Handi Cap Accessible Playscape at our Magnet School with
Childscapes spearheading the project through the State of
Connecticut Architecture Review Board. I interviewed several other
companies and went with Childscapes as their reputation and
integrity is not matched in my opinion and we will continue to do
business with them in the future.

About 6 months ago we began the initial planning of an aggressive playground renovation at the Bright Horizons Facilities at the Prudential in Boston. After months of planning, bids, value engineering, equipment purchases and installation coordination, Childscapes was able to help pull it all together and deliver one of the most significant playground improvements in my tenure at Bright Horizons. Thank you for your patience, commitment and cooperative attitude during this job.
Our center Director had this to add about your company:
"From the very beginning, Bill was very professional in planning and carrying out the renovations to the playground. His crew was faced with the very daunting task of digging out tons of soil and pea gravel. Everyday they came early and left late in the evening. The only time I saw them break was for lunch! I could not have expected them to work any harder. Now that the playground is complete, the children absolutely love the new playground and the new ground surfacing. I would highly recommend Childscapes for any future playground renovations. They did a wonderful job!"
Clearly this is a testament from a well satisfied customer. Thank you again for your effort on this project. I look forward to working with Childscapes on many projects in the future.

The reaction from the town has been very positive…The park is used by children and families all day long, and it has become the favorite park in town

All of us at Erdman Preschool want you to know how much we love
our new play structure. It's the only part of the playground that
the kids want to play on. The fathers who helped install the
structure were very impressed with your organization, thoroughness
and good humor. After last year's fiasco they were thrilled to work
for someone like you! From start to finish it was pleasure to work
with you on this project. You can be sure that the next time we do
playground renovations you will be our first and only call.
My sincere thanks again. Debby
How do I say, "Thank you" for all that you have done? While the physical structure of the playground is, indeed, a testimony to your extraordinary efforts, what is not so visible but just as extraordinary is the 'esprit de corps' that you cultivated amongst all the volunteers. Working on the playground over the weekend was a great experience, one that will long be remembered by everyone who contributed. It was a thrill to participate.
The Primary children were delightful to watch today as they scampered with abandon from one activity to another. Unfortunately, as the rain picked up, the equipment became wet and slippery so the Intermediate children had recess indoors. We'll hope for better weather tomorrow.
Thank you for the pictures. It will take awhile to review them all, but the ones I've seen capture nicely the joy that can be found on the playground, right along with each piece of equipment.
Kudos to all of you! I hope the satisfaction you should feel from a job superbly done offsets any aching bones or blisters you are enduring from the weekend. On behalf of the Greenwood School faculty and students, I extend my deepest gratitude.
Sincerely, Rosemary Hunter
When in the spring of 2006, we decided to construct a skate park
for use by our summer guests at Smugglers' Notch Resort, Bill
Eckhardt of Childscapes stepped in to help us through the entire
We quickly focused on Childscapes Skate Park Products because of their concrete riding surface and ease of installation. Bill provided park designs for our consideration based upon our specifications and then met with some of our local skaters and skate park staff to review and to fine-tune the plans. Bill brought a sample ramp with him so that the team could check out the design, construction and riding surface. They liked what they saw!
We were working with a very tight timetable. Once we had completed our site work, and the concrete pad had time to cure, we were ready to install the ramp features. Bill arrived the night before to insure that we were ready to roll. The ramps arrived via truck the next morning and working with our crew, Bill supervised the installation of the ramps. By the end of the second day, we were ready for skaters.
The Skate Park has been quite popular with our resort guests and staff. They really appreciate the quality and feel of the Ramp concrete riding surface. For the staff, other than keeping the riding surface free of litter and any debris, there was no ramp maintenance required during the skating season.
With the help of Bill Eckhardt, our first summer with a Skate Park was very successful. The Smuggs staff and our skating guests are looking forward to lots more fun with skateboarding in our future

We are thrilled with the new playground at the Old Main Street
Fire Station in Marshfield Hills!!!
We would like to extend a very special thank you to Bill Eckhardt for your expertise, support and accessibility over the past two years. We are grateful that you facilitated the pro bono excavation and that you donated countless hours of your own time and money to make this project a success.
It has been a pleasure working with Childscapes on a project that, we hope, will be enjoyed by Marshfield families for many years to come. We look forward to continuing to work with you and thanks again!!!

I cannot thank you enough for all your help on Saturday. I knew
your company Childscapes would be there to supervise, but you
certainly put in a full day of work. It was hard to separate you
from one of the "dads" except that you knew what you were doing!
You were just one of us!
The playscape looks wonderful and the children cannot wait to get on it. The structure will be a great addition to our school.
I also want you to know what a pleasure it was to work with Wes Lee. He was so helpful and very available. He is willing to listen and when he thought it was appropriate he guided us in the right direction.
Thank you again for your help, support and patience.

I would like to thank you for your significant contributions
towards our Bogalusa, Louisiana Playground Project in the aftermath
of Hurricane Katrina. The children of the Northside Elementary
School will enjoy your handiwork for years to come. Your design,
your material contributions, and your caring and concern are
representative of what made our efforts so rewarding.
Our students now realize that they can make a difference in people's lives. Your assistance in helping their vision become a reality will always be appreciated.

I want to express my gratitude to Wes Lee and the members of
your team at Childscapes. You have created an outstanding
playground for The Ripton School. There were a lot of things to
consider with this project including: age range of Children, budget
constrictions, topography of land and different ability levels. You
met all of our requirements and exceeded my expectations!
